Get To Know – Berrie Rupert, Outreach Representative
1. What is your position and how long have you been with Commuter Connect?
I recently started in my role as Outreach Representative, proudly working with the people and employers within Hendricks, Johnson, Morgan, and West Marion County.
2. How did you get started in the industry?
It was through my passion of community outreach and desire to improve the lives of those around me that I felt compelled to join the Commuter Connect program and team.
3. What is your favorite part of the job?
The best part(s) of this position is that I get the chance to make a difference in somebody’s life when it comes to transportation needs. The impact of meeting those needs can make a huge difference in their finances, quality of life, and job happiness. Being out at events or in communities talking to individuals is where I can see the difference it makes.
4. What is your best commuting tip?
Outside of the programs we have for commuting, if you are just looking to get out of the house for a bit (as an individual or family), instead of jumping in the car, go for a bike ride in your neighborhood, or on the trails, or go for a walk. You’ll save gas and it has a positive impact on our environment. Plus, you will truly enjoy those moments spent outside.
5. How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
I spend much of my time outside of work either reading books or working for a non-profit, faith-based community center in Plainfield.
6. What is one thing you want to do when the pandemic is over?
Pandemic, or no pandemic, I want to focus more on traveling to and exploring our local and regional parks and trails.
7. What are you reading or watching right now?
I enjoy reading more than watching TV. My favorite reading material usually involves historical non-fiction and biographies. I currently am reading Trejo, the life story of Danny Trejo.
8. What is your favorite destination/activity in Central Indiana?
I still am partial to making random trips to Brown County State Park. There are so many great trails and hiking options that I have not covered it fully yet. I also like visiting any place that serves good food in Central Indiana.
